To fight hunger and food insecurity by providing food, meals, and compassionate short-term assistance to individuals and families in need, while serving every person with dignity, respect, and care.

To build communities where no one has to face hunger or hardship alone, and where individuals and families have access to the nourishment, support, and resources they need to move toward stability, hope, and a better tomorrow.

Just Hungry Project serves two Texas regions through rotating programs. Availability may open or pause in either region based on staff, partners, food, funds, and current capacity.

Where we serve

  • Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex
  • Fort Bend County and the Greater Houston area
  • Applicants must live in a region with an active program at the time of review.
Who may apply

Short-term help based on need

  • Individuals and families facing food insecurity or a documented short-term hardship.
  • One active request per household and normally one approved request every 90 days.
  • Reasonable verification may be requested. Assistance is not guaranteed.

Important: Help may be provided as food, meals, supplies, referrals, or direct vendor payments when practical. Cash assistance is not guaranteed. Staff may document an exception to the 90-day guideline when circumstances and resources support it. This is not an emergency response service. Call 911 if someone is in immediate danger.

Fair and accessible service: Submitting an application does not confirm that a program is currently active in your region. Our team will confirm availability when acknowledging your request. Just Hungry Project provides equal access to eligible applicants and does not charge a fee to request assistance. How we use and protect information

We use assistance-request information to review eligibility, coordinate approved support, prevent duplicate requests, maintain program and financial records, and evaluate our services. Access is limited to authorized staff and service partners who need the information for these purposes.

We do not sell or rent applicant information. We may share information when you authorize us, when needed to coordinate approved assistance, when required by law, or when reasonably necessary to protect health or safety. We use reasonable safeguards, but no online system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Charitable giving and receipts

Just Hungry Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, EIN 41-3767262. Contributions may be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Official online donations are currently processed through GiveButter, which provides transaction receipts and processes payment and donor information under its own policies.

Unless a receipt states otherwise, no goods or services are provided in exchange for a contribution. Gifts support our charitable mission and may be used where the need is greatest unless Just Hungry Project accepts a restriction in writing. We may decline a gift that conflicts with our mission, policies, or legal obligations.
